Service Description

Over 4 weeks, students will explore 4 different disciplines of engineering. Fun for new and returning students alike, each session ends with a take-home item built in class under instructor guidance, with opportunity to modify designs for students looking for an extra challenge! This 75-minute class allows plenty of time to really explore the science behind the projects. Parents are welcome to stay for the class, or to drop students off and pick up at the end of class time. WEDNESDAYS JANUARY 8-JANUARY 29 6:45pm-8:00pm Dakota Community Centre (1188 Dakota Street) - 2nd Floor Board Room WEEKLY SCHEDULE - APPRENTICE (Ages 8-11) - 6:45pm-8:00pm: - Wednesday, January 8 - CHEMICAL ENGINEERING - Kinetic Sand & Oobleck: explore how substances mix together to create amazing things! - Wednesday, January 15 - MECHANICAL ENGINEERING - Candy Catapults: design a mini catapult and experiment with different projectiles! - Wednesday, January 22 - AEROSPACE ENGINEERING - Taking Flight: learn about gravity, thrust, drag, lift, and buoyancy through the construction of paper airplanes and blimps! - Wednesday, January 29 - ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING - discover conductivity as you make your own version of an Operation board game! This class is intended for ages 8-11. Please contact winnipeg@engineeringforkids.com or 204-808-3019 to discuss registering kids outside of these age guidelines, such as siblings in both junior and apprentice age groups. Pay-as-you-go option available: register for the session here and select "Pay in Person". You are only charged for the classes you attend.
