Science Saturdays
Monthly afternoons of engineering!
Available spots
Service Description
Looking for a couple hours of activities for the kids? EFK Winnipeg is excited to announce the return of "Science Saturdays", a monthly event for kids interested in trying out our engineering programs. Thanks to our friends at Champlain Community Center for hosting us once again! These afternoons will cover a wide range of ages, as noted in each session description. Each month is a new theme. THIS PAGE WILL BE UPDATED EACH MONTH WITH THE NEXT SESSION'S SCHEDULE AND AGE RANGE. You must sign up for each class individually. These afternoons are very much like a half day of camp with Engineering for Kids. Activities take place from 1:15pm-3:45pm, with drop off beginning at 1pm and pick up until 4pm. Kids will gain experience working in teams, working individually, following build instructions, implementing their own designs, and thinking creatively. There will be downtime in between science activities for games and movement. First up, Electrical Engineering for ages 8-12! On NOVEMBER 9, we'll explore weight distribution, friction, and power as we design mini vehicles that are powered by a motorized fan. How do outside forces affect the vehicle? Does it matter where the fan is placed? What about the wheels and axles?! With a mix of design freedom and guidance in the right direction, this afternoon is great for engineers of any skill level. The project does use smaller parts and requires some tricky steps, and is recommended for ages 8-12. Please email winnipeg@engineeringforkids.com directly to discuss registering children outside of this range. Kids should bring their own nut-free snack, a water bottle, and indoor shoes.
