Service Description

Book an instructor to bring an engineering activity to your group. All materials are included and kids are actively participating the whole time. Perfect for day cares! o Aerospace Engineering: Straw Rockets – Learn how rockets work through a storybook, then be guided through building and launching your rocket with an amazing air-powered launcher! Suitable for indoor and outdoor use, weather permitting. o Chemical Engineering: Lift Off – Explore how the size of the starting materials affects the speed of a chemical reaction as you mix up a batch of rocket fuel for an indoor launch! o Civil Engineering: Beams and Trusses – Learn about beam bridges and truss bridges as you construct a strong bridge using not-so-strong materials, and explore the engineering design process to design, build, test, and improve your build! o Electrical Engineering: Light Up Greetings – Discover circuits and conductivity as you craft a greeting card with a light-up feature! **Recommended for kids aged 8+, or younger groups who have previously completed an electrical engineering workshop with us. o Environmental Engineering: Green Boating – Reduce, reuse, recycle simple craft materials into a functional sailboat! o Mechanical Engineering: Rubber Band Racer – Learn about potential energy to build a vehicle that really moves! All workshops are suitable for ages about 4-12, with additional recommendations as noted above. All activities contain hands on building components under instructor guidance, as well as testing and improving their designs as time allows. Some activities may test to the point of failure or may use up materials during testing, while others include a take-home item that can continue to be used after the sessions ends. All activities are very hands-on! 30 students maximum per workshop. If you have more than 30 students, you must split into two groups and book two workshops. For groups of 10 or less, or to book multiple days, please contact winnipeg@engineeringforkids.com to book directly. Fees: o $200 per workshop o $175 per workshop when booking 2 or more workshops from September-June or July-August o $150 per workshop when booking 4 or more workshops from September-June or July-August o A mileage fee of $0.73/km both ways applies to locations outside of Winnipeg, measured from the nearest perimeter.
