Introductory engineering activities for groups
Service Description
Book an instructor to bring an engineering activity to your group. All materials are included and kids get to keep what they make. Perfect for day cares and home school groups! Each category ("step-by-step" or "free-build") has multiple workshop options - one option takes the whole hour. STEP-BY-STEP: The following 4 workshops consist of an instructor demonstrating the building instructions while the students follow along with their own materials (Choose ONE) - Straw Rockets: Work as aerospace engineers to construct and launch a mini indoor (or outdoor) rocket! - Archery: Work as aerospace engineers to construct a mini bow-and-arrow set! - +++Candy Catapults: Work as mechanical engineers to build a working model of a catapult. Candy included! - Variable Resistor: Work as electrical engineers to construct a circuit that tests the conductivity of other materials! +++Candy Catapult activity requires tying multiple rubber bands and using binder clips. Recommended for older kids. FREE-BUILD: The following 3 workshops present an open-ended design problem for kids to create their own solution using provided, shared craft materials and recyclables (Choose ONE) - ***Beyond Trains: Learn all about engineers, then work as civil engineers to design a home for a toy figure! - Ball Run: Work as mechanical engineers to design your own version of a classic marble run game - no marbles required! - ***Moonshot: Work as aerospace engineers to design a spacecraft that can land on multiple terrains! ***Beyond Trains and Moonshot activities include a literary component in the form of a picture book read aloud. Recommended for younger kids. All workshops end with a physical item for each participant to bring home. 30 students maximum per workshop- additional $5/ student for groups over 30. For groups of 10 or less, or to book multiple days, please contact winnipeg@engineeringforkids.com to book directly. $200 for single workshop booking. $175 per workshop when booking 2-4 sessions. $150 per workshop when booking 4+ sessions (includes multiple sessions in the same day, multiple days, or multiple locations). All activities are the same price.
