Service Description

Book an instructor to bring an engineering activity to your group. All materials are included and kids get to keep what they make. Perfect for day cares! Activities new in 2024 are marked with a + Junior Engineers (ages 4-7): Read a book and do an engineering activity based on the story! + Make Like a Tree and Leaf: build a car with wheels, axles, and a sail + Ready, Set, Jump: design a parachute + High and Dry: work in teams to build strong towers out of not-so-strong materials + Smarter than the Average Bear: apply the concept of load distribution to construct a table-top chair + Swing, Scoop, Score: discover how swings work to make a cup-and-ball toy - Straw Rockets: construct and launch mini rockets - Restore the Reef: craft models of coral reefs to discover how engineering can help protect underwater life - Slime: combine ingredients to create 2 types of slime and compare properties **this activity is not based on a book Apprentice Engineers (ages 8-12): follow-along style activities where everyone ends up with the same final product! + Archery: practice accuracy and precision with a mini bow and arrow build - Flashlights: learn about circuits, current, and conductivity to build a working flashlight - Candy Catapults: build a mini working catapult - Bottle Rockets: launch unique rockets **requires outdoor space with grass to launch. Please allow up to 90 minutes for bottle rocket activity (no additional cost) Apprentice Engineers (ages 8-12): design-based activities where everyone starts with the same materials to complete a given challenge! + Car Joust: design a vehicle to protect cargo from impact + Basketball: create a mini basketball hoop and catapult-style launcher for a table-top game - Super Satellites: craft a satellite to meet design criteria and undergo serious testing 25 students maximum per workshop.
