École Tuxedo Park Grades 3-4 (Thursdays at 5:30pm)
STEM Live virtual programs for École Tuxedo Park (3-4) Through weekly hands-on projects, following the engineering design process, students will discover for themselves how engineers use STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) to make our lives easier everyday. Grades 3-4 Thursdays 5:30-6:30pm Dates: February 25, March 4, 11, 18 Feb 25: Electrical Engineering—LED Flashlights! Students build their own working flashlight. They learn about conducting and non conducting materials. March 4: Mechanical Engineering—Maze Run! Students identify the characteristics of gravity and properties of acceleration through the manipulation of inclined planes in this lesson. Students design a maze that will have various inclines, testing how the degree of angle impacts their marble, and reaching the finish line in the least seconds possible. March 11: Civil Engineering—Bridges! The Note Card Bridge activity will challenge students to construct a bridge out of a normally flexible material and create a navigable span. March 18: Electrical Engineering—Magnet Skaters! Students learn how magnets work and demonstrate how the magnetic field can pass through a solid object. They build a toy for continued fun! Charges are $50+GST for 4 weeks. Limited spots. Kits will be delivered directly to you. Please allow for 2-3 days for delivery.
